Worth getting Quick Wax?
Worth getting Quick Wax?
would it be worth the few bucks to pick up a bottle? i mean will it give my truck a nice shine say after i wash it? i dont get into a serious truck detail, just usually a nice good wash. could i use the Quick wax?
its better than nothing. I use it when I travel, apply it with a MF towel after a wash&dry. But before i go on the road I clay, one of the following; 80,20,21,etc, 2x nxt2.0, topped by GC or 26 or 16, so my use is more of a maintenance use. I suggest that you should give your truck a treat and give the treatment once a while, you'll be happy you did. Use the search function in this section on taking care of your paint, as I am not an expert.
If you're not into spending much time detailing your ride, I would recommend a good cleaner wax in preference to a quick wax. At least you will get some cleaning of the paint in the process.
i bought a bottle of meguiars gold class liquid wax. like i said im not much of a detailer, just like keeping my truck looking decent. so i washed with megs gold class wash, and dried, then applied the liquid wax. turned out great! has that nice feel to it now! how often should i do this? couple times a year im guessing?
If you want extra protection and shine pick up a one step cleaner wax.. Megiures has a pretty good cleaner wax.
Gold Class isn't a spray wax, it's a liquid carnauba wax. Looks great (imo) especially on black, just seems like it has some durability issues which is why I figure once a month.

NXT 2.0 does a pretty good job after just a wash if there isn't much correction that has to be done, and it's pretty durable.
What I do is use Megs Ultimate Quick Detailer after each wash - it helps boost NXT's protection.
You should do a one-time serious detail - wash, clay, clean, polish, etc.

This guy dosn't know what he's about to get into!
And i know, but the OP was talking about a spray wax.. I didn't know if he was looking into actual wax or just a quick spray wax. and with the way products come out left and right i wouldnt be surprised if they added a spray wax to the gold class line up.
NXT has a spray wax too.

I would assume it's somewhere in between UQD and the full NXT 2.0 wax in its effectiveness.

Gold Class, Meguiar's Cleaner Wax, Meguiar's NXT 2.0 can all be picked up at Wal-mart. The cleaner wax is designed for your exact case. Someone who wants to clean their vehicle up for a night on the town or whatever, just like Boss_429 said. If you REALLY wanted to take it one step further, you apply the Cleaner Wax, then apply a coat of Gold Class or NXT 2.0. It really gets addicting, but I understand where you are coming from with just wanting to wash and wax. Look at it this way, you are better than probably 95% of people out there who don't even wash let alone wax their vehicles.

A little bit nicer product than going with Meguiar's Quik Wax - or NXT Spray Wax - would be stepping up to Optimum Spray Wax. The negative is that you'd have to order it from a place like Obsessive Detail (hint: there's a sale on it right now -- I just snared a gallon for myself! -- also, once it's off sale, mention f150online.com and you can save 10%).
The advantage to Optimum over the other two - and many others for that matter - is that you're not going to have a white residue on everything that it hits. In fact, Optimum Spray Wax is one that won't stain trim and is actually pretty durable for a Spray Wax.
I concur with the others in that you should at least devote a tiny bit of time to the first application (cleaner wax, as Boss mentioned) so that you have some level of paint cleaning. Cleaner waxes have come a VERY long way in the past 10 years and offer pretty decent cleaning/hiding abilities and are very easy on and easy off. In short, an extra couple of hours could really go a long way in making it a little bit better than the norm...
