applicator destroys my hood
applicator destroys my hood
my truck had been sitting outside for 8 years before i got it and never been waxed...it was EXTREMELY oxidated so i used a rubbing compound on the hood with a microfiber applicator that was in my garage....BIG MISTAKE...i guess there had been partcles caught up in it and made pretty deep swirls (almost scratches) in my paint....tried a scratch and swirl remover and wax and it helped a little but didnt do the trick...suggestions?
$5 says it was the RUBBING COMPOUND *YUCK* and not the applicator.
We need more details on your rubbing compound...most will murder paint and add retarded amounts of swirls.
Also, your car needs to be CLAYED first, then work on polishing.

Agreed. Which tub of rocks was it? Turtle Wax? No. 7? I know No. 7 is not for clearcoats. I think the new "Premium" TW compound is safe for CC, but not the regular.
Those are the only 2 I can think of...
