Proper Procedure?

So my first ADS order will be showing up on the 8th!!

As a good number of you have seen in my previous thread, I worked my tail off to get my black truck's paint back to somewhat normal.

Since a G110 DA is coming with my order, and I clayed, cleaned with meg's DC step 1, polished, and 2 coats of gold class ~~~ what would be my plan of attack with the DA? Do I need to go back and "clean" the paint again (after a proper wash) with the #80? I am thinking that this may be a good idea to try to get the remaining swirls out then follow up with the #21 and 2 more coats of wax?

I have read the sticky over and over, searched high and low for a few days - now I figured I would just ask these questions and hear what some of you have to say.

Thanks!!!

- Wash
- Dry
- Tape off plastic parts using painter's tape
- Address problem areas with #80 at a speed of 4.5 using a MEg's yellow pad
(this will probably mean the whole truck)
- Wipe down with 50/50 Isopropyl Alcohol/Water mix
- apply #21 .. with Meg's tan pad at a speed of 3.5 - 4 .. allow proper time for curing, then remove by hand using HQ MF
- Wait 12 hours
- Apply wax
- Drink beers and enjoy

- Post pics (direct sun pics are preferred).

have fun.

I've read a bit about this...and what I gather is that it should be done by someone with experience...is this right?

I alwayswill drink beer and enjoy during this process!

you can if you want. but unless you are parking under a tree, or are exposed to some other environmental contaminents, claying again so soon is a waste of your time.

When properly done, claying will not harm anything .. but it is not a necessary step every time you touch the truck. It is an important part of proper prep, but you are well within the time frame where you do not need to clay again.

The Alcohol Iso. 50/50 Wipe Down removes oils from the polish that can hide and conceal any blemishes, scratches, swirls, micro marring, marring, etc and show you what you are really working with. I recommend doing it. It'll show you if you can actually move onto the next step or if you need to do some more paint correction. I also agree with Gipraw, claying so soon is a waste. We both were just covering the basics of a detail procedure.

Yes #80 is going to remove the imperfections. Depending on how bad they are you might want to do it a few times. Remember, go very slow and be patient, just keep working the product.

Looks like I need to get some extra spray bottles. Is the procedure on the alcohol wipe-down similar to the procedure for QD'ing?

Is it normal to be checking the forum over and over while waiting very impatiently for your rather large order to show up from ADS???

I feel like a kid again waiting for Christmas morning and the anticipation is killing me!!

I agree, that's how I am with every package. I'm waiting on my new computer from Dell impatiently.
