Correction of a different nature

Picking up a used 4 wheeler Thursday. It has the normal rub marks and scuffs. Anyone have personal experience in reducing or removing this stuff?

Also what would one use on the colored portions? I'm not sure if it's paint or colored plastic. 04 polaris sportsman if that makes a difference.

Not too much you can do with the scuffs. I'd give it a good wash and pick up a product called Plexus, it's a product that you apply to the plastics to make them shine up. Post up some pictures though !!

Just out of curiosity, how would Plast-X work on plastics that are of uniform coloration throughout? I would think it would work well... maybe try it out on an inconspicuous area first...

never had too much luck getting scuffs out of my 4 wheelers in the past. I came accross a newer front valance that looked better than the one I had but thats all I could do to make it better.

thumper... never heard of plexus. Just a thumbs up to you though, you sure do know alot about detailing. Alot of help has come from you through searching these forums.

Well from my experience detailing atv's, plexus/plastic gloss are the best products you can use to bring back some color to faded plastic. Nothing is gonna get the scuffs out of the plastic. If your atv is painted plastic then wax/clay etc will work the best. I know AC makes a orange color that is auto paint on plastic, you can tell the difference. If your popo is just colored plastic then use plexus or plastic gloss, mud comes off much easier also after rides (usually lasts 3-4 washes).

It is.

Tried some plastX but it did near nothing. Hit it with a coat of wax (after testing a spot to make sure it wasn't going to just absorb and turn chalky) and it gave it a bit of a feel that was more slick. did look better but was mostly due to the Hyperdressing than to anything I did to the blue.

Take my advice, pick up Plexus, it'll definitely make it look a lot better ... This isn't really coming from someone who loves detailing. This is coming from someone who raced motocross for 13 years.

I think some guys are confusing Plast-X with Plexus. I would recommend two products.

1. Plexus - I use it for my atv's and motorcycles now and it works.
2. Honda Spray - I've used it in the past and its great also.

yea i have a green honda rancher. there is pretty much nothing that i know of that you can do correction wise. being OCD its quite tough to handle but its the truth. i think the best you can do is keep it clean and just put something shiny on it such as plexus or sometimes when im feeling lazy ill just use a tire shine. that and wax really help in washing the wax off the next time. hyperdressing would be best probably. i have never used it but from pictures and reviews think that it would be nice and shiny without being all greasy. just my thoughts

Have you ever used the "New Bike in a Can" stuff? I get that at my local bike shop, works pretty good.
