Partial Cleaning

Done with homework early, and the rain has seemed to clear for now, so I decided to give the truck a much needed wash. My Dad says why don't we clean the engines, ok and if anyone has ventured over to GD you already know what happened. He just blasts the hose on his engine, 1994 5.8 Bronco, and I basically trickle the water over mine after a spraying of diluted Simple Green. His truck had a hard start up and once he stopped it it wouldn't restart. Thanks to Tumba's advice on the distributor cap it started right back up. That was a scary experience. After helping him I was left with only being done with the roof and hood. With almost no light left I decided to remove the tape I had put on my grille. Pain in the rear. Tape didn't want to coroperate, and the whole time I was getting destroyed by the mosquito's. I'll try and finish it up tomorrow, and maybe detail it over the weekend.

One question out of all this. The engine bay looked better, but not great. I did a 50/50 mix of simple green, soaked it, then rinsed it off. Any suggestions to get it better, or another product. Thanks.

Yes, order Meguiars APC+ from ADS. It's one of my favorite products. Also make sure you buy the spray bottle for it. It's got the proper dilution ratios on it as well. APC+ can also be used on carpets.

When I clean a motor this is what I do ... I spray it down with APC+, let it soak for two minutes, and than rinse it off with a wide spray from the hose. Careful around electrical stuff. Once I'm done rinsing it, I blow it off with the backpack blower. Make sure you get the plug wells and electrical stuff really good. After it's completely dry, I'll spray it all down with Hyperdressing at 4:1. I'll take a nasty rag and wipe everything down to get rid of the excess and smooth things out. It looks amazing when I'm done. Also, do this before washing the vehicle. I usually get some Hyperdressing on the paint and doing it before washing makes things a lot easier.

I hope this helps !!

Thanks Thump. I was afraid you'd send me to ADS. I love that place and I'm border line on buying the G110 If I'm ordering I'm placing a good order unfortunately for my wallet.

Don't worry bud. While I've been laid up from my surgery I've spent way too much on detailing supplies. It's addicting but good thing it's cheaper than parts for the actual vehicles.

The heat and the bugs suck right now making being outside miserable. Anything you'd recommend on top of what comes with the G110 package?

What will suck the most is when I put the boat on the trailer for a good detailing. I'll have a couple cases of water handy for that. At least I'll get the detail supplies for that dirt cheap.

I don't like the G110 so I won't comment. I'd go with the PC7424, personally. If you want to talk AIM, send me a message and I'll discuss my thoughts.

CD2 engine detailer. IMO (and many other detailers) works much much better than any other product
