Ive been very happy with Souveran. If you can afford it, then I say buy it. P21s is average in the durability dept, but is a very wet, deep look, which is my first priority.

 

What do you think of it vs #16? I just got my tub of the Souveran, finally.

 

Agreed, but I was assuming he had proper compounding/polishing skills and or products.

 

I think #16 is more durable. Souveran is more of a "beauty" wax. It has a very "wet" feeling. Its looks are incredible. Use the supplied applicator, and opposed to their directions, let the wax set up. Dont WO/WO. Its more durable and user friendly this way. Also, its ok if it gets on trim.

 

And thumper, Jw.. How does #16 compare to #26, i know the durability is great on 16. Yet whats the difference in the finished look? Does 16 yeild a better final outcome?

I'd be willing to bet that Collinite IW #845 is what you're looking for. Very durable. Easy to use. Fairly inexpensive. Looks great. That sound good? Really, if you are after looks more than anything, go for a PB wax or one of those high dollar ones. If you want durability, find #16 or CIW #845. If you are looking for somewhere in between, go for Megs #26 or similar. You cant really go wrong if there is wax on there.

But first, read the sticky. Both of them. Then, let us know what prep work you are doing and what you are looking for, and we can tailor a suggestion towards that.

Thump-- how long till you get to try the new wax? a week? two? Hope the surgery hasnt got you too down.

Sal, I don't know if you've ever tried PB's Black Hole (glaze) or their EX-P (sealant) but check it out if you haven't. I used it on my black truck and wow.... It was like looking into a mirror, and everything was done by hand. Then top it off with whatever wax you choose.

 

Read the sticky like everyone is saying. I remember after I read through the whole thing that I was completely amazed at how much I didn't know. Chances are you are going to want to follow the proper procedure to detailing your car after reading it.

So what I recommend for the waxes are to go with any of the ones anyone said, but try each out over time. It is all a matter of personal preference. I would say go with some megs NXT 2.0 just because it is easy to find in the stores. Then try other waxes later on and find your favorite.

 

How long do you let it set-up? Depending on the wax, I usually let all of them set-up more than every other panel except for #16. It's just too iffy.

#16 looks better to me than #26, side by side. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference if you didn't see them side by side though. A lot of people can't tell but if you have used both of them a lot than you'll know, probably. Also #16 is a lot more durable than anything else I've tried. #26 seems like it's only good for a month or two. While the #16 is good for about 4-6 months. A lot depends on your washing procedure and products as well as the environment that the car is exposed to.

 

It all depends on heat, weather conditions, etc. But here's my procedure with most waxes, this one included. Start waxing the hood, continue down side of choosing. When you finish the tailgate (trunk in your case), stop and go back to the beginning and start buffing off, then proceed to wax the other side and when you do the roof, go back and buff off. This should give the wax ample time to set up, about 20 min if done good. Remember, apply thinly.

 

Gotcha so about half of a vehicle. Waxes or sealants that are easy off and on usually get this treatment.
