Anybody try D151 yet?

If so, what are your thoughts? Hows it compare to other stuff?

Thanks!

Is this a true one step product? Or just the polishing/cleansing step without the wax.. I know it says it offers protection as well.. however i believe i have enough polish/scratch and swirl remover, wax, ect. to keep me from donating any more of my pay checks to ADS or Meguires.

Yeah, its supposed to be. I need something for the wash/wax customers... This sounds like if it is what it claims to be, it would work. #6 I believe is supposed to be similar.

It's getting quite a bit of buzz right now...Really though, like f-150sport alluded to, it's just another cleaner wax. The concept has been around for a long while...

Maybe it'll be incredible stuff... maybe it'll flounder. I am interested in hearing others' take on it but, my initial take (and no, I haven't tried it) is that it's a AIO product that can be had in bulk.

D151 is the strongest AIO. Cut is more aggressive than M83.

??? M83 typically has to be followed up by something less aggressive (such as M80) to remove the hazing left behind... If D151 is more aggressive than that, then I HOPE it has some sort of diminishing abrasive that can remove a lot then become more fine, then act like polish, then act like wax...

I dunno-- that in particular sounds like too good to be true.

I may try it, but honestly, I would like to hear some detailed info from someone who is trustworthy and has used it.

Well I am going to be making a big purchase from ADS in the next week or so and I plan on ordering a gallon of 151 to do exactly the same as you, the wash/wax customers. I will let you know once I use it.

I just realized something. I am going up to Irvine tonight to Meguiars open garage. I am going to try out some 151 on a G110 tonight. I will let you know how that goes.

Also, what do you mean that 83 leaves behind hazing? like micro swirl marks?

Since #83 has so much cut to it, it will leave slight micro marring. I usually follow it with a pass or two of #80. I've only had to use #83 a hand full of times. #80 is really the "money maker" IMO. I use it more than any other product out there. If you can't get it with one pass, try another, or maybe even a third.

From what I have seen so far though, there hasn't been a need to follow up with anything. Tim over at MOL has been testing it since the get-go and has pictures up. Other members over there have been getting it and posting information up. Head over there and check it out.

I would have some but I placed my ADS order 5 days too soon.

I hate that so much or even worse when you forget something. At least when a product isn't out yet, it isn't your fault.

Okay... Glad I am not the only one thinking that... For a second there I was wondering if I was just wasting #80 when following up after something more aggressive...

Ok guys so here is what I think of D151

I personally didn't use it last night at the meguiars open garage because my truck didn't have any swirls or major imperfections to use it on.

There was a man with a black mustang who used it. He had some decent swirls and imperfections. After he used it most of the swirls and as for the larger scratches, they were diminished but still visible when looking in the light. I would say it almost worked kinda like 80. The only difference I guess that there was was that it had a small layer of protection while m80 doesn't. We followed it up with some NXT 2.0, which made it look really dark and rich.

Mike Phillips, the guy in charge of the garage really seemed to stray away from using it because people are thinking this is some sort of miracle one step worker. D151 was made from the request of used car dealers and auctions. They wanted a 1 step product to get thousands of cars done in a day. The product primarily removes medium imperfections, then leaves some polish, and third leaves a small amount of protection. If you want to do a quality detail, you would probably not want to use this.

It didn't leave behind any hazing either. It is on the same cutting level as 83, but I think it won't haze because it is made for being a 1 step speed solution. I am not sure how hard mustang paint is either, so some softer paints may haze, but it seems unlikely.

I hope this helps
