Meguiars Scratch X Rules!

Used the Megs Scratch X for the first time today... Wow, this stuff works wonders on small clearcoat smudges. Used it on my wifes black Expy, and the areas that I treated look new again. She has about 15 areas that need some love. (Five years old) Looks like when I get a spare weekend, her whole vehicle will look like new. Thanks to all you OCDers for pointing me in the right direction

After using the Scratch X, should I use anything else to polish the area that I scratched x'ed?

You want the good news or the bad news?

Good news?
Looks better doesn't it?

Bad news?
Anywhere you used SX now looks better than the other areas on the surface where you didn't use SX.

More bad news. Read the sticky.

Good news,
Now you get the polish the entire truck to even out the areas you used SX.

More good news:
If you buy a DA, you become an expert overnight.

I'll stick with my "all in one, lazy man special", and continue using Opti-Seal. It corrects to a point as well.

No, I think that's only for the Flex.

Either way, you need wax where you used SX.

Back in the day I did an entire supercab bright red Ranger with scratch-x...by HAND. Had to go over it like 4 times.

I wanted to DIE.

Ah the joys of owning a FLEX now

SX is a cleaner so it removes wax.

Cleaner? I thought it was liquid sandpaper...

You thought my wifes Expy had wax...

Sad, but the only wax it has ever seen was, well never.

I do want to get her paint looking nice, then wax it. I would rather have a flex or DA thingy. Are they in the sticky?

It's a polish/cleaner. Anything that is going to remove surface imperfections is removed a small amount of clearcoat. If it's removing a small amount of clearcoat than it's also removing any sealant or wax on the paint.

My bad!

If you are working by hand, for now, you could try some Color X.

Invest in a DA. I think it's one of the best things I've ever bought.
