NXT 2.0 on white

i've got a an '08 FX4 thats white/grey. i was thinking about going with the NXT 2.0 and was wondering what everyones opinion was on how it will look on the white. i've heard several of the experts claim the "saran-wrap" look, but was wondering if this would be as big a deal on the white. i know i could also stack a good carnauba on top, but to be honest with you, i'd rather not unless it would make a huge difference.

just a fex notes. i'm looking for a 50/50 mix on protection and looks, maybe even a little more towards the protection. my truck sits outside 24/7, and i use it as a truck quite a bit. i'm looking for maximum protection, but somethings thats gonna shine good too.

thanks in advance for all the help

NXT 2.0 does not have the saran wrap look. If the so called experts think that, then you should get some new experts. LOL!!!!!

NXT 2.0 is a synthetic so it gives you great protect as well. Try it for yourself because your opinion is the only one that matters anyway.

It's a personal oppinion thing. To know for sure what you want, you'll have to try it both ways and see what you prefer.

My personal opinion from from my personal experience on my own vehicles (Ford pacific green & Ford aspen green) Both vehicles had a saran wrap look more than strictly carnauba and a coat of carnauba over the 2.0 did deepen the gloss in my own personal opinion. I'm no expert but don't dismiss everyone's experience just because you don't agree with them.

Also from my own personal experience I found that NXT 2.0 didn't last any longer than any of the other LSP's that I have (#26, #16, Natty's Red).

It's a good wax and I still use it. But it's not a miracle wax.

I haven't tried the NXT 2.0 on white but I have on a bright red. It looked really nice. As Jolly mentioned, try the NXT 2.0 out and see how you like it.

Sorry a lot of experts still find it has some saran wrap to it. Not nearly as much as the first generation NXT but it's still visible.

Opinions are like arseholes... everyone's got one.

My suggestion, give it a whirl and see if it lives up to YOUR standards for what YOU are looking for in a very good LSP.

The bottom line is that NXT 1.0 or 2.0 is a pretty good choice as a LSP and is widely available. It offers very good protection, good durability, and is ultra-simple to use. Yes, there are a lot of products out there that fit this particular list of criteria but, we're just talking about this one at the moment...

The best way to use it is 2 coats 12 hours apart. Use Megs UQD after every wash to boost the protection.

Definitely use a clay bar on the truck before applying it. You may or may not need more intermediate steps, depending on the condition of the finish.

the condition of the paint is VERY good, as it only has about 2K miles on it. i defenitely plan on claying before i wax. just want to get something on there that is super protective, as it will see some real use once october gets here (aka: bow season)

thanks again for all the help!

I'd still clay it. It might only have 2,000 miles on it but it was transported, sat at the factory, etc. It's got paint containments, clay it now and than do what you're going to do. Are you going to do any polish?

Like glc said, use two coats of NXT and wait 12 hours between each coat. Otherwise you'll be removing the first coat.

I used the regular Meg's Cleaner Wax on my friends white Chevy and it looked pretty damn good! I clayed beforehand, but I was impressed for just the ho-hum Cleaner Wax (it was the little sample bottle that came with the clay kit).

thump,

i wouldnt be opposed to polish, i'm just real new to all of this and not exactly sure what all i should do. i've read the sticky about 4 times and starting to pick up on stuff, but still trying to catch up..... what do you guys recommend for a polish, and thats before the 2.0 correct? i dont really want to spend all weekend on this as my weekend time in precious, but i do want to get a good base on this thing!!

bassman,

i bought a new hoyt trykon right before bow season in '06, but didnt get to hunt with it much that year as i spent most of the season in India for work. i absolutely LOVE it!! was with my hunting buddy this weekend when he bought a new mathews DXT (i think those are the right letters). very sweet bow as well.... i shot a bowtech before my hoyt, and would have no problem going back with some of the sweet bows they've got out now

Maybe after the NXT is used up, you could try some Collinite IW. It looks good on white, and lasts a bit as well.
