scotch guarding???
ok guys, i have my interior torn out because im dynamatting the entire interior. i was thinking the other night what all i could do while the interior was torn out. i remembered hearing something about scotch guarding the interior including the carpet. well if its worth it i would like to go ahead and do it. i am somewhat hesitant about doing it though. im worried that it will screw up my interior. what scotch guard should i be using?
scotchguarding is a GREAT idea... just get either the normal one or the automotive breed-- either way it will work for you. Dont be afraid when you spray it-- the smell will go away.
It's rather easy and foolproof, so I say go for it.

DO IT! That way we don't have to hear you complain about how to clean your seats later!
I used the automotive grade, I believe, in the red can. I sprayed 2 coats on my 05. Absolutely no stains for the next year that I owned it.
It does smell like *** for a few days though.

should i apply it heavily? or will that cause a residue build up? how many coats should i be using?

Glad to hear that the professional route worked, that's my plan for after the summer.
I did 2 light/medium coats on the back seat and 3 medium coats on the front seats and console.
Exactly. I've never really seen anyone have results with the consumer stuff other than on here in this thread.
