Rainbow vacuums?

Ive never heard of one till the other day when I was at my gf's parents house. They had one of those people who come to 10 peoples houses and do a demonstration. It was pretty cool and I was higly interested, that is until she said how much it would cost. She told me I could even do a payment plan. I told her I wasnt interested in buying another car. Anyways, anybody got one or use on when detailing? Are they really that much better than a dyson or a shop vac? Ive never had one problem with my shop vac and LGM combo.

My brother's got one. (Well, his wife got them one...) They wont go back to anythign less than one. Even better than Dyson.

BUT-- they dont do their cars with it; they only do their house.

Oops-- just noticed the LGM part of your post-- if I remember correctly, the LGM does pretty much what the rainbow does, only the rainbow vaccuums while it does the water thing... I'd say you're safe not getting another 'car' payment...

I *love* my Dyson DC17 Absolute Animal but, I've heard nothing but good things about the Rainbows.

Back when 'door to door' sales were where it was at, I'm told that the Rainbows would easily beat the Electrolux machines.

Dyson makes some kick *** products. Has anyone seen the Dyson Water Blade in the bathroom? It dries your hands after you're done washing them. It's awesome. As far the vacuum, I use a little Shop Vac that's pretty powerful for it's size. I think it's a little over a hundred dollars.

Yeah it is, but I'm wondering if it's meant for commercial use (public bathrooms), or home. I mean just because it's commercial doesn't mean you can't use it at home, but you don't see many people with those normal hand blow dryers in their homes either.

Seems strange, doesn't it?

One word of warning... prepared to be disgusted.

We had a decent vacuum of another brand (I honestly can't remember the brand -- Boss by Eureka, maybe?) It was rated extremely high by Consumer Reports (which, I swear, I don't really take much stock in)...

We pulled the DC17 Absolute Animal out of the package (got a KILLER deal on it from Kohl's - like $150 out the door -- yes, $150 -- several stackable coupons and additional discount by using their store card (which my wife has for some strange reason)) and gave it a good go over. A user on another forum (yes, I was checking out a cleaning forum talking about vacuums) mentioned that he/she vac'd with his/her old machine immediately before trying out the new Dyson suck-o-matic.

We tried it...

It was UNBELIEVABLE the amount of crud that the old vac left behind!! Crazy, in fact.

I have a pooch with black hair and mainly light-colored carpeting. Her hair is short and thus, embeds in the carpet pretty readily. The Dyson literally gets ALL of it up. I can confirm this by putting my nose down on the carpet and really looking at it -- seriously, it's impressive.

I'll get off of the Dyson soapbox - I know I'm starting to sound like a Regional Sales Manager for Dyson or something but, long story short, I think you'll be impressed... it's really a nice, well thought out, product.

I honestly am looking forward to trying this puppy out. I have a pooch with black hair as well, and my son is slightly asthmatic. I bet it takes me half a day of vacuuming before I stop sucking up dirt for my first time using it on these carpets.

$150?! Wow. The older DC14 Animal retails for $650 plus 13% taxes at Futureshop up here. The DC17 just became available at Costco up here, but it's not the Animal version, and it's $569 before taxes. I ordered my DC17 from the states, (still comes with 5 year warranty - I called Dyson to confirm coverage even tho it's from another country. Policy is they only cover vacuum from country of origin, but they said they'd still cover it, and I called twice and spoke to 2 diff ppl to confirm that).
I got mine for $425 shipped, and then I'll still get nailed for taxes (13% of $370) when I pick it up at Canada Post. Still a large savings from what I'd pay here.

I have a little rug rat crawling around as well. She's coming up on 11 months old so, keeping the floors pretty clean was pretty important to us too.

I just pulled up some old emails... looks like I got it for $217 out the door. My $150 was low but, even at that price.. I really wish I could've bought more than one (EBAY!) but, the one 'significant' coupon was only good towards one item and could not be reused (unique bar coded coupon, I believe).

I liked my Absolute Animal so much that I went out and bought the handheld Dyson DC16 Root 6. It's great too but the battery life on it is HORRIBLE. You'll get, maybe, 10 minutes of use before it's dead and shuts off. Then it's back to the charging base for several hours before it's back up and ready to roll. We use it around the kitchen mainly for kiddo cleanups and to suck up rouge dog hair.

Let me know what you think about it... maybe try out the thing that I mentioned earlier by vac'ing with your old and then the Dyson. That blew me away...

I will. I'm not sure that I have the gumption to vacuum twice (once with Bissel and next with Dyson ), but I bet I'm emptying that cannister at least 2 times per room.. :barf: .. from what I've been hearing/reading.

I'll try one room with the old vac. I think I can muster up enough energy for that

Courage. Pass it on.

Good luck, bud. I think you'll be pleased.
