Tailgate work

I have a white 2004 and need a little help on the tailgate. I keep my truck spotless and waxed constantly (a little OCD). When I bought the truck, I have always noticed little black dot things in the paint of the tailgate. I am not sure what to use to take them out. Any suggestions would be great! ALSO- is there anything I can do to clean out the "underside" besides get down with a sponge to make it look new again? THANKS

Those black dots could be rail dust, sap, other comtamiantes etc....I would clay it personally then see what that does.

I am a big fan of really working on the tail gate b.c that is something people see and it's big so you can "showcase" it if you will.

I would recommend you read the sticky....

As for the undercarraige, its a dirty job and it needs to be done from time to time.

What I do, and this is crazy but I get the oldest clothes that I own or put something that can be thrown away....I get my creeper out, bucket, brush some APC+ and water hose, go to town....when it's all dry...I drive to a remote location and HD the Chit out of it.....then drive home and clean up the overspray from the HD or wash the exterior.

I have never done any clay work. Is it very difficult? I suppose that you just rub it on then wipe it off-- I know it's not that simple but basically?
What were you saying that you scrubbed the undercarriage with? (APC?)

Clay Bar will remove them as well as the wax so you'll need to re-wax the vehicle. I also use RollingRock's method of cleaning the undercarriage. Before doing it, I usually set out two sprinklers to get everything wet and clean some of the dirt off.

Well I will add my .02 here, sometimes claying will work. But I have worked on cars where dots, in your case black, were under the paint, in which case, claying does no good. APC is all purpose cleaner. Meguairs makes it. again, read the sticky about claying and also read the dictionary. For a larger list, check out: http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...ead.php?t=1293 and http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-det...1-26-07-a.html

Lets do this.....

Get a close up photo of the area and show us what you are dealing with, that will give us a better idea of how to attack it.

Not to be an forum a-hole but you need to read the sticky in the CD section.

It is very informative...

After you read the sticky and post a photo, we'll help you.

Deal? or No deal?
