PLease help me bring my boat back to life

Ok guys Ive been trying to sell my ski boat. Ive had 2 people come look at it and try to knock off $2-3K b/c the top of the bow is oxidized along with a tiny bit on the side.

From what I gathered on the net..
start w/ 1000 then 1500 followed by 2000 wetsanding.
Then apply aqua buff 1000 and then 2000.
Is there anything I can buy localy? need to do it this weekend.
Also read that penatrol can be used for a temporary shine 4-6 weeks.

Wet sanding? No thank you. Let's start a little less harsh. Meguiar's makes *many* fantastic boat products. I'd start by picking up their Marine Oxidation Removal Kit available from ADS. The kit includes oxidation remover, polish, & wax. If the #49 Oxidation Remover (the one with the kit) won't cut the oxidation, then I'd move up to the #67 One Step Compound or the even more aggressive #95 Power Cut Compound. All of these products are made for fiberglass. Automotive stuff made for clear coat just can't really cut through the gel coat. Oh, and none of these products require wet sanding beforehand.

Go to Bassboatcentral.com they have a restoration page that can help you out but you probably have to wetsand if its bad though, but it will save you some serious loot and you may not wanna sell it afterwards....

I too will chime in with the famous Hill Street Blues line, "Let's be careful out there" - especially with wet sanding. Having been in the marine business for over 25 years, I can tell you that most boats have a pretty think layer of gelcoat - which would give you what you need to wet sand first. Some other boats - notably high performance boats where light weight is critical - have paper thin gel. That leaves you nothing to work with. Not knowing which end of the scale your boat is on makes it pretty difficult to tell you exactly what to do. We can safely recommend using the least aggressive process first though.

My personal recommendation? Go to a professional and have them do the work for you. It will generally be far less costly and yield far better results.

X2 I would try this first. I have saved some pretty awful looking boats with Meguiar's #67. This stuff is easy to use like #80 with bite like #84, but for gel-coat. Don't wet sand unless you have too..

No way. I'd go for the oxidation removal kit. Hell, you might not even need to use the oxidation remover. That could probably be fixed with the polish and wax alone...

Im looking to get $8000. If this wax stuff works out pretty good I might have to go up a little
I had a guy come out the other day and offer me $6500 because it was fading. Once it warms up a tad more it should sell quick. Its priced lower than any other moomba ive seen
