Optimum Car Wax

I tried this for the first time yesterday after washing the truck. It's very simple to use. Just mist it on and buff it off with a high quality microfiber.

I didn't expect much, but was quite surprised. Application over the entire truck took approximately 10 minutes. It added a good bit of slickness and gloss to the paint, giving it that freshly waxed look, even though I just applied Nattys Blue a week ago.

Too early to tell about the durability, but so far I've got no complaints, especially considering how quick and easy it is to use.

I agree... the Optimum Spray Wax is a FANTASTIC product. I've been tinkering with several of the Optimum products as of late and, I must say that, so far, I'm VERY pleased with them.

While I haven't had a good opportunity to play with the Opti-Seal product (and I really want to try this one), I have managed to find a couple of 'spot test' candidates for Poli-Seal (another Optimum product). This is a FANTASTIC one-step product with ZERO dusting.

I've *never* been a fan of 'spray waxes' until I tried the Optimum version...

Check out www.obsessivedetail.com for the Optimum wants and desires. Justin is a heck of a good guy and runs a great business... He has his own product line as well... I'm currently trying out a few of those products as well but have not yet found the 'ideal candidates' for those... (although, I think my truck will be one of them if I can ever find some time).

Are you guys using this as a LSP or a WO/WO wax? The only time I use a spray wax is right after I wash the car before the drying step. As recommended by Boss, it helps absorb more water and put a little coat of wax on. I like Mothers FX spray wax the best, but there are other WO/WO waxes that work very well. I will have to give Optimum a try.

WOWO -- or more of a spray on, even out, wipe off. No white blotchy spray marks either...

FWIW, I have used it over #16, over MPPP, and over P21S. It really leaves a nice, slick finish...

I tried the Mother's FX and it was okay (way better than the NXT Spray wax -- I thought that stuff was junk at best). The FX product line, as a whole, is pretty good (IMO) for a consumer-focused product.

I used it after a wash when the truck had already been dried. I don't know about using it alone, but over Nattys Blue it works pretty well.

Thanks for the report on this stuff, i have been wanting to add it to my Optimum collection.

I love their polish even if it do dust a lot, its great to work with and very easy to use. On the bright side, its very easy to know when the product has broken down....hence the dust.

I've been wanting to try their QD for a while now. I'm glad I didn't have to be the test mule. RollingRock, check your PMs in a few seconds.

This isn't their QD.

I mispoke, I meant QW. Thanks for catching that.

Edit: How do you think it'd do on top of #16?

Should work equally well over #16.

What do you think of Natty's Blue in comparison to #16? I love the products that I've tried from Poorboys so I'm looking at a lot of stuff they have when my current supply runs dry.

I've not had a chance to use #16 yet, so I can't comment on how it compares to Nattys Blue.

I have all the flavors of Nattys and #16, I think they are all pretty similar. I honestly don't think you could put them on a hood 50/50 and see a difference. The benefit of 16 over natty's is the durabilty. I would suspect that Nattys has more carnuba in it though...

I have used all the Nattys on lots of different colors, but have not tried Nattys red on a while color yet.

Recently I did used Nattys Blue on a white car and looked great, but that was after SSR1, PP, WD, EX-P....

As for the QD's, I am not really a fan of the PB QD's. They do work well on all surfaces, meaning, paint, glass, chrome etc...they are meant to be very versatile, however, I find most of them streaky and require a lot of rubbing. I don't like to rub that much with a QD. After using Megs 34 for so long its my QD of choice then X FD. (I now buy 34 in 5 gal size)

Spray and Wipe is ok-I keep a gallon on the camper

QD+ is terrible in my opinion but it could be application error on my part. I think QD+ would be great after an LSP to add some pop but not as a true QD.

Spray and Gloss I haven't tried based on tests with the other two QD's.

If you are looking to expand your PB products, spend your money on the SSR's, and skip 2.5, its not needed in my opinion. 3,2 and 1 are good enough. Do yourself a favor and pick up some EX-P....after you us it, I doubt you will go back to the EX unless you are trying to solve a two step process. My opinion.
