ADS Question

Why did Auto Detailing Solutions discontinue all of their DA packages? I was about to purchase a DA and then ran across "Discontinued" on all of them!

Hmm.. That's really weird. Maybe they're going to come out with different pkgs.

Looks like they may have run out of G100's and the G110's may be backordered.

The G100 is discontinued and the G110 is back ordered and when the G110s are in stock the package deals will be available, so says my email answer states.

That's sad that the G100 is no more. I guess I'll just be recommending the Flex.

So the G110 is not as good as the G100? I too was getting ready to make an order for the G100 kit. Should I just go ahead and get the G110? I read on the website and they both look similar. I am not seeing the differences.

The G100 and the G110 are different machines. The G100 is a rebranded Porter Cable 7424 whereas the G110 is mimicking the 'Ultimate Detailing Machine' (more or less).

The general scoop is that the G110 is a newer and slightly more powerful machine than was the G100. I've not yet handled the G110 but understand that most who have used it tend to like it. The general principal is the same; random orbit.

The G100 is also exactly the same machine as the Porter Cable 7424 so, if you're heart was set on the G100, go with the PC7424 (or 7336). The only thing that you're giving up going to the 7424 is the lifetime warranty that Meguiar's backed...

Another option at this point in time for you may be the Flex which is even a more powerful tool than the G110. Several have tried them - and I'm sure some will chime in - and they really like them. For the average driveway detailer, it may be a tad much but, it could work out (that's my opinion).

Either way, all isn't lost... you still have the 7424 or G110 or UDM or Flex as a fall-back...

Thanks so much Rockpick, that was exactly the answer I was wanting. I am going to think on it for one more week and then pull the trigger on something. It must be the engineer in me, I have to research everything now a days.

Thanks again,

I've used a rotary quite a few times. I've used the G110 and the Flex as well. I've never even heard of the Cyclo though.

No problem, jrbhc8. While I'm not an engineer (although, I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and played one the day after), I work around many of your 'type' and certainly understand where you're coming from... Heck, for that case, my mind is quite analytical as well so, I can empathsize with your thought process as well!

Cheers!

Well I should have said I was an engineer in training. I still have 1 year left at "Missouri University of Science and Technology," better known as UMR.

This has turned out to be a good thread, lots of great info, thanks Rock...

I presently have 3 PC 7424's and 1 Flex. Only having the Flex for a short time, I have only done 1 complete detail with it and I have to say I was pretty impressed. My opinion is that it's not better than a G100, or G110 or a PC equal, but i will say its a different tool. It can be your everyday machine but I like it for different reasons. I like the variable start, the trigger lock and the spin up and spin down characteristics. In other words, you can use the trigger to pulse the machine...which is handy if you have a deeper imperfection in a section and you want to work it more yet still work a larger section at a lower speed....

That may not make sense. I also think that some will say that you can start out with a Flex but I don't think so. Using a G100, G110, PC is a good way to hone your technique and do it safely...again, some will argue that the Flex is safe but as of right now I can see how you could get into some trouble with it for a newcomer. The Flex will "walk" on the surface and you have to learn how to control it uniformly...my DA's have NEVER walked on me so it does take a new learning curve which is true for any new product or tool.

Ok, that is my .02 on it...net is, any of the mentioned machines in this thread will work for you, i would steer clear of the high speed, leave that to the trained pros.

Ahh... there's another guy here that goes to Rolla (zairman).

I recently completed a multi-million dollar environmental remediation just a little bit southeast of you down in Iron Dent & Reynolds counties... I've been in Rolla a *bunch* of times (mainly to get the hell out of Salem - which is where I was based)...

Back to your regularly scheduled polishin' machine thread.
