splatter with a DA

I did my hood as a test spot using #80, WD ,EX-P. When I used the #80 I was getting little chunks when I was working it in. I used a 8006 pad on speed 4.5. It never happened to me before. I don't know what I did differently?

Hmm, was this splatter or dried dust? If it's splatter, you need to apply the product to the pad, rub it around on the panel, than start working it in with the machine. If you still have splatter you could be using too much product or you can just run the machine on a lower speed setting to spread the product and than turn up the DA to "work" the product.

I did a forum no no, post before search. I found another thread that you said #80 on 4. And its very possible I had too much product.

I bought the DA DVD that talks about a dry buff, is that when i start seeing powder?

I do not have the DVD so I'm not positive but it sound's like it. I believe #80 can be used up to speeds of 5. However I haven't ever had to go that high on an American paint. My buddies Audi TT needed to go up to 6 to even make a difference.
