Purpose of Taping Off
Purpose of Taping Off
What is the need to tape off during a detail? Is it for when you use your DA to keep the product where it should be?
The detailing sticky mentions it, but I'm interested what it's for

Tape off the plastic and rubber when using a DA to keep the product off so you don't have to do it later . Sometimes the product does not like to come off. When you get better at using the DA then you don't have to tape as much.

the wax and polishes will turn the plastic white where it touches. Worse yet if your DA/ buffer is set to a high speed it will melt the plastic/ rubber it touches. it also saves you alot of clean up time and scrubbing with a toothbrush.
Like others have said. It takes only a few min to do it and it saves you up to a few hours of getting product off the trim.
