Type of Pads??

Megs #80 entire car, MF towel off
Megs #7 entire car, MF towel off
Megs #21 entire car, MF towel off
S100 entire car, 2 coats.

I would like to use the above process to a white truck. I am looking for some guidance on what pads to use and speed to use with these products. LC has a guide but what are people using on the street.

SEARCH!!! I know its cop out, but come on...
Are you using LC pads or Megs? Which ones of each do you have? If LC, use the chart-- it was designed by professionals, after all...

Here's a guide for Megs pads. Brand choice is more of a personal preference.

no a cop

I know search, I have read many item that you have posted and all have some good stuff in them but you have been doing this for a while. I have am just learning and starting to figure out my DA and the other stuff I have all Megs. My Lake County pads are the CCS type. Now, if the CCS is not exact it is just what I remember. I am sitting in a hotel in DAL and trying to plan my weekend once I get home. The chart does not have any hint about speed that i saw.

Hey bro, long time no talk, guess you have been busy flying the bigs around.

As for your pads.

Since you have the lakes, pending the condition of your paint, try using the White Lake with 80, and Black with #7 and Blue with #21.

Speeds, follow the above speed chart it is for megs products should translate the same for LCP's.

how long you in DFW?

Let me guess...you are here for The Nelson?

Here is the LCP chart

Not familiar with Lake pads, but try #80 at 4..possibly 5 if 4 isn't accomplishing what you want. For the rest of the steps I'd use speed 3. Just spread those around, don't work them in.

Hmmm, not to disagree with you here, but why not work product in?

Glazes need to be broken down too....not sure about the #21 only used it a few times and I still worked the product in, rather than just spreading it.

Megs 21 does have a mild cleaning property to it, so there is no real benefit of just spreading it out.

I donna know, maybe I am wrong.

I've tried working in #7 before, never again. Stuff gunks up into a gum like substance, literally and is A PAIN to clean off. As for 21, that's my bad, I was thinking 26..:o

My limited experince with Megs #7 (only used on 5 cars or so)was that thin was the key and the major error was letting it dry on the surface. That is what you don't want to do. I think using a DA on a low speed for #7 is the trick. Small sections, slower speed as indicated by the Megs Chart and get that stuff off fast. Never fun to get the Dewalt Drill Hammer to get the product off. (Kidding of course)

BTW, I swore I would never use the #7 again too but after trying it again, I liked it but I was smarter how i used it...i decided to keep it...never know when you need it.

Wanted to add this but the photo was still loading...I have enough 21 to choke a donkey....

Speaking of Donkey, Ryan do you need to fill up your bottle of #21? Bring it over when you drop off the DA wrench...

Thanks again for the info. Just in town over night and out on Fri. No Golf for us just Business. I have been playing with the new DA and have not liked the results. Thought, I would start with the speed and color of pad. Also I am starting with my wife’s white truck before I get into my black one.

Yep!!! You know me all too well...I finished it off putting a coat on the rims the other day...

But I tell you one thing-- it was worth it. All the rain and mud I went through fell off. It still looks like I just washed it regardless of what I have been going through. I love how a detailed truck sheds off mud by driving through rain... And since we are blessed enough in the Saginaw Area to not have acid rain, the water dries up without spotting!!! BTW-- I will testify to the fact that HD has magical mud-slinging properties to it. I was pretty deep in mud last night... I cant tell this morning... In fact, there is no mud anywhere... I know, I am being repetitive, but I am truly amazed at how efficient my latest system is at repelling the elements. As a reminder, here is what I have on there now:

#80
#9
#21
#26
Nattys Blue
UQD
Yep. In that order.

Anyway, JP-- I will drop by this weekend-- will call you when I know what time I will show up.

Cool. I will either drop by tomorrow or Sat. If you find me with a syringe and #21 halfway injected but I am unconscious, at least give me my money's worth-- PUSH THE REST IN!!! Just kidding.

BTW-- should I QD your driveway while I am there?

I have experience with Lake Country Pads and

Zaino ZPC-Fusion swirl remover, on really dirty, neglected, black SUV's, and I ended up putting a new yellow L/C pad on, after a good wash and claybar job, and at times had to lean on the Porter Cable 7424 at medium speed, but this cleaner has to be worked until it turns to dust. I never had any of that pad loading, etc., and all 4 of these monsters came out beautiful, almost free of all scratches, etc., and the Zaino Z-5 made them really shine. A year later, I went to see my kids again, looked at all their dang SUV's and they still looked really, really nice and shiny.
Oh, by the way, I literally wore out that Yellow foam pad after this exercise, and just threw it away and got me a new one.
Depending on how your paint is, you might get by with a less aggressive pad, but for these tanks, I had to go with the next thing before wool pads.
No paint damage, no paint removal on edges, etc., just beautiful black paint..
I know that other cleaners are more aggressive, but with that you may get swirls, etc., that you then have to take off. With the products I used, this didnt happen. Good luck with your project. DanF
