weekend waxing

hey guys, i'm going to wax this weekend. i see meguiars happens to be whats good so i'm going to get that NXT, should i get the paste or the liquid. i will be applying by hand, but buffing by electric buffer with a wool pad. should this pad be moistened before i buff with it or leave it dry? later on i'll order more advanced stuff online. thanks!

I have the nxt in paste form, I have always preferred to use the paste. The liquid and the paste will preform the same. But I feel like the liquid will soak into the pad and is a little more messy. As far as the buffer question I could not tell you, as I do not know. I have always just waxed by hand, I am to affraid of doing something wrong. Maybe once I get a donar car to try with I will grab my buddies da and give it a try.

Are you talking about removing the wax with a buffer? I think you are better off removing by hand. Even when you do remove via machine, you use a microfiber bonnet, not a wool pad...

Perhaps you should read the sticky for that one.

As for the NXT question, it really is a matter of personal preference. Some like pastes, some prefer liquid.

Wool pad? Um no...don't do that.

Do it by hand. As F150Sport suggests, read the sticky and remember, just throwing some wax on the finish after a wash is ok but to properly prepare the surface, a good plan is always taken from this base.

Wash
Clay
Paint Correct (Polish) if necessary
Glaze, optional
Seal, option
LSP (Last Step Product) usually wax

If you have contaminates or other goodies on your surface you can drive them deeper or trap them on the surface by just applying wax.

My .02 on the subject.

I personally like as many products as I can get in liquid. But in reality it's all personal preference. Apply by hand, remove by hand. NXT 2.0 is a good wax but what color is your vehicle? What kind of condition is the paint in?

If NXT is that hard to get off that you think you need a buffer, you either applied it too thick or you don't have a properly prepared surface. At the very least, clay the truck before you wax it.

I agree NXT is one of the easiest to apply and remove.

If anything, it's the other way around. You can use a machine to apply it.
