Who uses a flexible backing plate?
It is.
I've been using a flexible one on both my DA and Rotary for a while now and it does make it a tad easier to work around the various angles that are tied to each and every modern vehicle (and even the old ones too).
While you still have to be careful with keeping your pad on the surface and not 'edging' the pad to the paint into a dry pad situation, the ability to keep the flexibility of the pad and still maintain control of it with the backing plate is kind of a big deal in my book.

The one that came with my DA is the Megs regular backplate. I just got my "flexible" one from autogeek its a lake country. I cant tell the difference. Did I get the wrong one. It doesn't really seem that much more flexible.
No.. you probably got the right one... you just weren't aware that the newer Meg's backing plates are considered to be the 'flexible' version (doesn't have a burgandy hard-plastic backing -- it's black, right?).
I have the black plastic, but i dont know about flexible. Can you elaborate more on this or is there another more flexible plate out there?
No that's it. The old ones were beige around the outside and burgundy in the middle, I believe. I don't have a problem with the one that I use and it's the Black Velcro looking one.
