Question about after claying....
Question about after claying....
Hey guys. Hope your having a great Wednesday.
I just finished claying a friend of mines F-150 this past weekend and I just want to be sure about something.
After claying is done and wiped off, then polishing is done. What should come first, carnauba or synthetic?
We clayed his truck first. Then polished with step 2, carnauba waxed for step 3 and then followed with NXT 2.0 synthetic (2 coats) 12 hrs apart.
I just want to be sure we did it right in the right order.
Thanks.

Thump are you sure? Because I did it the other way around.
Washed dried
clayed and dried
Meg's step 2 polish
Meg's step 3 carnauba
Meg's Synthetic 2.0
We did it in that order.
Carnauba waxes are generally accepted as the better looking waxes. Synthetics tend to leave a saran wrap effect that many people do not like. Some people do.
To eliminate the saran wrap effect and still maintain the protective qualities of the synthetic, use synthetic first, followed by a carnauba once the synthetic has cured fully (usually 12 hours.)
The sticky details this in more depth I believe.

On a side note since you have a silver truck, it's not going to be a big deal. The carnuba makes a big difference when you're dealing with a dark color vehicle.
My Arizona Beige truck looks just fine with just NXT 2.0, no carnauba.
You should not apply any synthetic wax on top of any other wax, it can inhibit the polymer bonding.
