Cleaning engine bay and claying
Cleaning engine bay and claying
Come this spring I plan on getting my engine compartment looking brand spanking new. I also plan on claying my truck. So, what exactly do i need to order from the ads website to do this? Lets pretend I have no supplies.

I would encourage your to review the detailing sticking at the top of the section.
Secondly, you said Clay the truck....that is only the second step in a many step process. The base for any good detail can be taken from this plan.
Wash
Clay
Polish
Seal
Wax

For Megs it goes in this order.
White-very mild (sold at most places in a kit)
Blue-Med
Red-Heavy Duty
There are also other brands out there. Clay Magic, its Grey and there is another one I buy that is Purple. A cross between Red and Blue.
99% of the time, I use Megs Blue.
Rules of Thumb with Clay:
Cut the bar in half and save one half and use the other. If it touches the ground, do not use it ever again, walk to your nearest trashcan and throw it away. Then grab your other half and don't drop it.
The trick is LOTS OF LUBE. So if you get a Megs kit, get another bottle of QD. For trucks I use a lot of QD.
Not a lot of pressure is needed. I like to Listen to the clay, and you can feel it "release" as each area is covered.
Cheers

All three of those are QD's. Quick Detailing products. All three can be used a lube, you will like the 34 better I assure you, hands down 100% for claying, no need to buy the other ones if you haven't already.
Steps:
Wash
Clay- using Megs Blue Clay and Megs 34
Polish- using what ever polish you want. This is where you remove swirls, haze, marring, scratches etc, paint level and correct etc.
Seal-Optional step here.
LSP-wax.
Does that help out?
