I will tell you that with a recent find, RockPick should have given me 2 tins of his private stock instead of me buying it on my own in Canada.
I didn't know that you were buying it, JP!
I probably could've taken care of you - doubt I could've parted with two though.
In all honesty, the lure to the product now is that it's nearly gone and nearly impossible to find. It's a very good carnauba-based wax that a lot of us *really* like as a last step product (typically as a topper to a synthetic). On dark colors, it really shows off and excels, IMO. The durability is definitely better than #26 but, like most carnauba-based waxes, it's not light years of protection.
When Meg's was forced to discon the product in California (EPA Region 9), they claim that it was an 'average' selling product (meaning that it was on their radar but, certainly wasn't a focal product). When they announced that it was going away and that the manufacturing of the product would soon stop, it quickly became one of their top products and sold out in short order.
There are other products out there that are similar to it but, I always come back to my favorite blue tin if I want to dazzle a client or my own dark-colored vehicles.

Obviously, it's undergone 'several' upgrades and changes in formulation over that period of time but, one thing remains -- it's a great product.

Now correct me if I am wrong but isn't CA the reason why this product was banned from being sold in the US due to a chemical present?
What was the story about this again?
EPA Region 9 (California) pushed down regulation (or it's in the pipeline and set to become law) that car care chemical manufacturers must be held to a certain standard with regards to California's overzealous air laws. Before, car care chemicals had a categorical exemption from several of the regulations... not anymore.
I'd look for this regulation to spread across the United States within the next several years as Region 9 is just about *ALWAYS* the first to lead in the 'save the air' campaign (as well as just about every other media - Air & Waste). This will, in turn, hinder many of the 'bath tub blender' types of companies that are out there and making fantastic products. The long and short of it is, 'reblend/reformulate the product or cease and desist'. This, in turn, will significantly 'ding' many of the 'small guys' out there.
While it may have been made in Cali, it's not any longer. Meg's manufac's everything now in Tennessee (outside of Nashvegas). California was far too stringent on many issues for them to continue to effectively and profitfully manufacturer there... among other reasons, I'm sure.
You're using 'old stock'. They aren't making it anymore to my knowledge. Also, just because it's old stock doesn't mean that it's lost it's potency.
The stuff lasts and lasts and lasts...
