Detailing Question??

Maybe this should be moved..but anyway...What wax do you guys use on your trucks? I do it the old fashion way (by hand and cloth). What should I use for the best protection and shine?

Also, I've noticed the door handles loose their black luster even using Armor All, etc. any suggestions on maintaining that "new black" look?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the CD section...you should prob do a search, but better yet, read the detail sticky at the top of this section.

I had only one black handle on my truck before i put chrome on them.. And i simply used tire shine to keep it nice and black. I tend to notice that Armour all will fade it quicker.. That's just me.

And for wax... check the detailing sticky for best results you want to use

1. a cleaner wax (megs is what i use)
-This cleans, removes light swirls, and protects all in one step.
2. A synthetic wax (NXT 2.0 from megs works wonders so ive heard)
-This will provide you more protection and a deeper glossier look.
3. A carnuaba wax (Step #3 of the deep crystal system or megs #26)
-This step will increase the clarity and shine of your paint.

Hope i could help.

Okay, I need to make a change... I dont use a cleaner wax then a synthetic then a Carnauba... I phrased that poorly, so Thank God RP is coming out with V2 soon...

Re read page 4 of the sticky. It segregates the 3 kinds of waxes in to categories-- this was NOT meant to be the order for applying them.

If I was you, I would pick up a bottle of NXT 2.0 at your local WalMart or auto parts store. Then, pick up a Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfiber towel. Use these.

What are you using for your wash solution?

Fill us in on the amount of $$$ you are willing to spend, the time you are willing to invest, and the products you have already. If you have experience with a DA and/or HAVE a DA, let us know that too. This will better help us to help you.
