I just used Meguires claybar kit for the first time and man what a difference! Let me know how long it took you guys. I've heard hours but it only took me 1 hour at the most. If you havent tried it yet I highly reccomend it. Now its time to go follow up with some wax! see ya.

 

I remember my first time...stupid slippery clay bar shot right out of my hand and into a bucket of filter sand....after that I got much better.....

 

It usually take me 2+ hours to do my truck. One hour seems really fast, especially for the first time.

 

Great to hear. Work on a F250 and you'll know about 2+ hours.

PS, why are you jumping right to wax? No polish?

 

I'm new at detailing. I guess polish goes before wax and after claybar? I'll get the hang of it.

 

No worries. Check out the sticky at the top of the C&D section. Its very helpful. You'll be a pro in no time.

clay
Polish
Seal (optional)
Wax

Maintain.

(Over 21 version)
Wash, beer
Clay, multi beer
Polish, more beer

it only took me about 45min. the other day in the rain. i tell you that is the way to go. got the whole truck nice and slick and didnt have to worry about lube or wiping it off.

 

It takes me much longer than 2+ hours to do my truck; but I also have a tonneau to do. I clay very small patches also; and sometimes go over the same spot twice if it's not smooth enough to my liking..
...then I polish, butter wax it and then hit the whole truck again with detail spray then spray glaze; all Adam's products.

 

Very clean Calistyle. I see I have more work to do.

 

Following morning remove excess wax not visible because overdid the beer.

 

or hope you didn't drink too much before the wax and used something other than wax :-P

 

Could you just add the name of the corresponding product to be used? Readily available, mid-market stuff, please. Nothing terribly obscure or expensive. If it helps, this is for an Excursion in dark blue metallic.

clayed mine the other day for the first time, smooth as glass after, hood felt like it was sand blasted before. only took 2 hours(many beers as well), cleaner wax here i come!

 

Mine hasnt been waxed since I got it last year and I havent washed it in two months. im expecting that bar to be pitch black when I'm done with it
