Suggestions on scratch remover & wax?

Landscaping season is almost over and I've aquired some nasty scratches on my truck this year. Also winter is just around the corner and I need to put that thick coat of wax on to protect my baby. I've heard of scratch remover and polishing kits but dont know much about the subject. Can anyone recomend a GOOD product(s) to remove hairline to medium scratches & swirl marks, and a good wax to help restore my truck to that showroom gleam! I have a budget of about $200. By the way my truck is black if that makes any difference. Thanks for all the help guys!

Got any pictures? Helps to see the condition of the paint.

In the sun, close ups too.

There are MANY ways to going about this and you are going to get many opinions but the basis of anyone of our advice will be better served with some photos of what you are working with.

cheers

You will want to wait at least 30 days before doing anything to the repainted part - preferably 90 days. Make sure you find out from the shop how much was really done, as they may be doing blending.

I got my truck back... Lets say im not happy. They must have sanded the panel when it was still on my truck and missed and went onto the door panel with the sander. Ill get picks as soon as I can of the previous and new damage. Im so fed up with Ford you dont even know! I dont even want to deal with them anymore, Im gonna give my buddy a call he does custom auto painting. Maybe he can help me.

05, take it over to Community Auto Body in Carol Stream. They are the ones that repaired my truck. The owner is **** about quality. The shop is so clean you could eat off the floor. It sure beat the time I was out at Brian Bemis in Sycamore - I almost choked to death on the bondo dust.

I got to see quite a few body shops in the Chicago burbs - I was doing contract work installing wireless Internet on body shop frame computers a couple years ago. I was so impressed with Community that I took my truck there when I crunched it. They did a beautiful paint blend job - only a pro could detect anything.

Angry Damn You Dealership!!!

Just got off the phone with "Bob" the body shop manager at Rizza, he said that my truck needs to be "buffed" and detailed which he claims they already did. They defiantely didnt detail or buff my truck. He told me whenever I get a chance to come in they'll take care of everything. I'd rather do it myself because they'll use crappy wax and generic brand cleaning products, and most likely screw it up again.

Do everything except put wax or sealant on - in case you do need to have more paint work done.

I did warranty body and paint work for a ford dealership, and that, my friend is the fast track to starvation. The warranty schedule for paint repair is a royal screwing of the guy on the floor, which is probably why they botched the job. Funny thing is, if the ford dealer doesn't have an in-house body shop, they usually contract with a local shop, who gets paid appropriately. What a double standard.

Please don't get offended by this, but that paint looks terrible. Almost as if it was running. hard to really tell without seeing but if that were my truck I wuold be asking for new paint on those sections. I will look at them again but it appeared to be really, really bad orange peel not to mention the marring.

This is the photo I was talking about....

Some of that can come out but you cannot get rid of that texture they put on there for you. Sorry bro.

Rolling Rock- haha im not offended. Ford painted my truck like SH*T from the factory. I know what you mean about the "orange peel look", the panel they painted looks like glass and the rest of my truck looks like that orange peel crap. I have also over the past 2 years found a ton of spots in random corners of my truck that were missed when painted at the factory. Unoticable unless you get close, but still annoying though. Im looking into just getting my truck re-painted by my buddy. Its not worth trying to match the paint and do all this work and end up saying screw it and getting it re-painted in the spring.
