Bleach stains

Bleach stains

How can I remove bleach stains from my oem 20 inch rim? This happen while cleaning my white letters on my tires. Thanks.

Heh... this is a new one.

You were using bleach on your white letters, I take it?

What has likely happend is that the chemical has etched the clearcoat material that is present on *most* OEM rims. The solution -- there's probably not one. I'm sorry.

did you use actual bleach, or Wesltey's ?

I'm not sure of the brand name I will check a.s.a.p. But it was made for cleaning white letter tires and it said in the ingredients that it had bleach in it.

I got a quick laugh at it too...

But someone I knew Simple Greened his entire car... it basically pitted the surface of the paint.

It was Westley's and it does say on the back of bottle it may damage rims. My 7 year old daughter tried to help me by the time I saw her she had already gotten it on one rim. What do you do? There is a guy in my area that fixes this problem or any rim problems i.e. hitting a curb or scratches that get on rims but it is around $150.00. I was also told that Blue Coral makes a product that might do the job. The guy who told me this also said he has seen mud stain rims when they are really hot. Thanks for the help.

It's likely etched the clear and/or the metal. Westley's has some pretty harsh stuff in it (HF) and it doesn't play well with metal at all. In fact, it attacks metal pretty handily and will pit, mar, etch, and corrode in very short order.

I don't have any saving grace to offer... I'm sorry.
