Hey guys,

I have 20" chrome rims on my truck. They have what almost looks like rust on the wheels but Im pretty sure its brake dust. It wont come off with just a towel. Is there something special that will take this crap off?

Acid washing is probably the best route but, there may be a more simplistic route (ie: clay) that may remedy the problem.

 

Id go to acid as my last resort.

Hey yam, when i get this buildup on chrome wheels, i have used steel wool to remove it. You must get very fine 0000 grade steel wool. I usually find mine at home depot, but you can find it almost anywhere including walmart.

 

i just took the truck to the detail shop and did the 20 dollar wash and.... they got the brake dust off..... i feel like.... myself... again.

 

Did you ask them what they utilized?
