Vigilance

Yesterday our model airplane club hosted an open house to teach people, mostly kids, how to fly R/C airplanes. Somebody in the club had the bright idea to supply the kids with free balsa gliders with metal weights on the nose.

As always I parked way out in the back corner of the lot to avoid dings and dents as did somebody with a beautifully detailed CJ jeep.

I happened to look out by my truck and saw a bunch of kids throwing these gliders WAY TOO CLOSE to it for my comfort. So I tore myself away from my duties and without saying a word to the kids or adults there moved my truck to the other back corner.

Not long after that I noticed the glider guild had moved, yep to my corner again. Once again I moved my truck futher away toward the gate.

We have to be just as vigilant in protecting our paint jobs from idiots as well as the elements. Even one of those little balsa gliders could put a nice little nick in a paint job and one would hope that the adults supervising these kids would be considerate of that, especially when someone obviously parks to avoid such incidents.
