I have used many qd's and all of them suck pretty much. I'm looking to find a product that doesn't smear and leave streaks on my black paint. Thanks Justin.

 

Meg's Ultimate Quik Detailer as a QD, then FK1 425 Poly SLick Wipe for a finishing look. The 425 is far from my favorite as a QD, but as a finishing product, it is hard to beat.

It can look a little splotchy at first, but once you get the hang of using it, you will love it.

 

It's all about the application. Cool surface, no direct sunlight, small areas,etc. That being said, I will never again have a black daily driver............

 

Agreed... what have you tried and consider to 'pretty much suck'?

Gip's list is very similar to mine but, I'd put 4-Star UGE in front of just about anything... followed by #425.... Meguiar's D-51 (discon'd).... Meg's UQD.

 

Streaking is usally caused by using too much.

Interested in what you have used.

My personal Fav is Megs Final Inspection.

Tried the UQD, didn't like it.

 

I didn't either, initially. Give it a few more whirls... typically over a synthetic. It really is impressing me more and more each day I use it.

It was a tad smeary over carnauba.... not as bad as the Tropi-Care Detailer spray though... whew.

I dont mean to be rude, but you successfully just narrowed it down to about 8 products. Megs makes a LOT of each type of chemical...

For instance, on the QD lines, they have:
A-line QD
UQD
Final Inspection (#34)
Final Detail (discontinued, unfortunately)
Last Touch (D15)
Quick Detailer (#66)-- RP, Thoughts on this stuff???
NXT Speed Detailer
then, A-Line QD in aerosol form(I know, not all that different, but...still)
...

Get the idea?

I like #34 Final Inspection, out of that list. I still do, though, have A line QD, and am planning on getting PB S&W for something new to play with, but to each is own...

 

The trick with PB's S-W is amount. It cannot be used like #34. I have a gallon of it, so I am still learning how to use it.

Tried it on my tail gate (someone wrote in the dust) worked like a champ.

 

I'm using the Meg's NXT Speed Detailer on my dark shadow grey mustang, and like how it works, although I use it sparingly, a spritz or two and a thorough wipedown.

 

I wouldnt be sparing with a QD. Remember, dry abrasion (and even wet abrasion) causes swirling/micromarring, so the more lube you use, the safer you are. Always better to use more rather than less.

 

My favorite right now is Duragloss Fast Clean & Shine. It cleans really well, doesnt streak and leaves my paint very slick. FK1 425 is very good too. I buy it by the gallon. Its more of a final wipedown spray. I like to use it after I wax or after a wash. It shines very well and its even slicker than the Duragloss. It's also great on glass and the plastic woodgrain in my interior.

 

I don't remember if I liked the Tropi-care spray. I hit the pump twice, and passed out from the smeel before I could wipe it off.

wow does that stuff smell awful .. smells like it works, actually ..
