Cold weather detailing?

Well, it looks like the snow beat my new PC to my door. There is about 6" on the ground and is still a white out looking out the window. I'm sure it will melt off some in the next few days, but it will keep getting colder and colder. I've read on the forums not to do things in dirrect sunlight or when the paint is hot, but how about when its 45 degrees outside? Can you still do all the processes involved in a full detailing? At least the snow will keep the dust down.

I still do full details in the winter. I roll the truck in the garage when temps are below freezing. Man, I dont envy you getting snow already!!

Agreed! Our Florida "winters" are the absolute greatest time for detailing! Mid 60's during the day, clear blue skies, and your truck stays clean for a week because it doesn't rain.

My truck won't stay clean for a day in the winter up here, but at least I get to do this when it snows.

The general rule of thumb is about 55 degrees for waxing (synthetic and natural). Below that, you're not going to get a very good set.

Snow? What's that? It's still in the 80's here.

I love Winter Detailing. Its cool, its dry, I don't have to race the sun to dry my truck.

Agreed. However, if you have a heated garage, you could utilize that to do the detail...

Hence, making it > 55 degrees.

Have a heated garage, but the truck won't fit. There just isn't enought room between the fourwheeler, motorcycle, snowmobile, riding lawn mower, push lawn mower, work bench, freezer, and the wife's Exploder. Maybe my priorities are all messed up.... or I just need to build me a garage/work shop out behind the house.

Thats is my plan for the spring.. Looking to put up a over sized 2 car garage / workshop out back bc the current garage is useless.

Get some tarps and move that crap out of the garage! not gonna need to mow the grass this winter are ya 4wheeler and snowmobile love the outdoors, remember they arent cute little puppies that need warmth and love, but machines that are ridden hard, like Jenna Jameson If you want to wax your truck, it needs that warm love that you can give it with a warm bath and a nice coat of wax. Freezer in the wintertime? If its cold enough, unplug that baby and save some juice. My$.02
