I find that I have to go about 44 mph to get it to work very well...

I use silicone blades and Rain-X washer fluid.

BTW-- I see no problem using the gas station things to clean off bugs. I do it all the time... Granted, though, my windshield was NOT in good shape when I got it, and has a huge crack, so these may see less use if/when I get a new windshield...

 

I Love their products. Been using Rain-X for 15 years now. First used it on a 57 Chevy 3100 pickup. The thing had a vacuum wiper motor that was about as good as t!t$ on a boar. every vehicle that i have driven since then, and even other peoples rides that i will be driving, i have used Rain-X on the glass. It makes for a safer drive, especially at night and during heavy downpours. worth its weight in gold if you ask me

 

I have been using for some time. Living in the Cleveland area in winter--Rain-X takes care of all of the chit that would normally build up on a windshield.

I apply it atleast once a month.

I have been using Rain-X since 1987 and cannot drive a vehicle without it applied. We get a lot of rain here in Florida. I actually apply it to all of the windows and even the side mirrors. I cannot stand driving in the rain and having the water just sheet flow over the windshield and looks like one big smear.

 

Guys I just bought some of the rain x windshield wiper fluid . treats the window as well as helps remove those damn bugs. great product .looks like orange gatorade . taste like shiiitt!! just kidding

You misunderstood, he was using the squeegee on his brand new KR driver's door paint I had a cousin do that once to her Honda Pick-up like thingy, I was gonna stop her, but i realized it was only a Honda

Agreed, for using them on the windshield, after driving through Bakersfield, CA during the cotton moth season, you'll know why gas stations have those things. It's hard to see through a yellow smear known as your windshield, and rain-ex as good as it is can't stop millions of moths from decorating your truck.

 

No no no, I wasn't using the squeegee on my KR door paint, the other guy in the Lariat was doing that.

I agree, I'll use the squeegee when/if I HAVE to... ie on a trip or something. Otherwise, I'll wait until I get home to take of the bugs, cuz if they are on my windshield, they are all over the bumper, hood, etc...

 

I would say it is 100% worth every penny!!

I have heard that Rain-x will deteriorate your windshield wipers, any truth to that rumor?

 

NO.

I heard the same rumor a couple of years ago, and it was quickly disspelled. Rain-X is merely a hydrophilic substance that adheres to glass and fills the pores and such so as to repel/bead the water. The beading ends up causing enough wind resistance to move the bead against gravity and off of the windshield.

It does NOT deteriorate rubber. Or silicone. I have used it with both types of blades.

I promise, you are safer with Rain-X. As a firefighter, I can tell you that when visibility counts (and seeing everything counts), there is NOTHING that beats having R-X.

 

I can tell you up here in the great NW we use it like we drink coffee!!

I have no need for it since I wax my windows with my normal car wax and it has the same effect- beading and sheeting water off the windows not needing the wipers on in the rain.
