A Thought

Has anyone tried using scratchx or maybe megs swirl remover on powder coated paint? Bird dog likes to jump on top of the toolbox and have a few scratches there.

Powercoat is almost treated like Ceramic paint, Porsche, Lambo, Mercedes etc....

Its worth a try but I would use something like Menzerna products. That is just me though..

Powercoat doesn't have a clear cover on it so anything you use is going to break down the paint itself. You should be exposing new paint thus cuasing you to polish the entire surface.

I've worked on a little bit of powder coat in my day and my suggestion is to tread VERY lightly.

Here's why...

Powder coating will yield a fairly inconsistant 'layer' of paint and thus, the thickness will vary wildly. As such, you may be able to 'remove' problems in one area whereas the same amount of effort/product/oompah put into similar spots elsewhere on the powdercoated item will yield burn through.

I would, under nearly no circumstance, go any more aggressive than Scratch X.

I just left it alone. Next time he tries to jump up there I'm going to light up his electronic collar like the 4th of July!

Gave it a good scrub today and hit it with some #16. Didn't take any scratches out but the shine blended them some so that they're not as noticable.

and the beading...
