Clear Bra's

Has anyone seen or tried one of the clear 3m type adhesive bra's for the front of their truck's?

Something like this

I think it would be a great way to keep your paint from chipping. But I am kinda leary of removal down the road. It would be nice to see what it looks like after it comes off of the car a few years down the road.

I have it on the painted area above my front bumper, for about $100 you can't go wrong.

I had it installed 2 years ago. A cpl of stones, pebbles have hit it and instead of chipping paint it just kinda pits the plastic.

I have never seen this before. Its a freaking AWESOME idea. But I agree that a couple years down the line, things may look weird. I mean the paint underneath would be untouched, but the paint outside will have seen 2 years of weather. So you would think the paint on the outside would be a little more dull. But I could be wrong.

Somebody has to have some pics of one on an f-150....

I really want one, I just looked at the front of my truck and it needs it, I can just see that it will save my front of my truck. But I was quoted $400 for the whole front end, and $250 for the bumper area only. for one from the local installer. I know I can buy the material for $100 already cut for the truck off of ebay. I can't see paying him that much just for the install.

My cousin has it on his Lightning, just the hood. He is having the rest of the front end done but they are taking there sweet azz time getting to it. The whole thing is costing him $250. You have to be right on top of it to see the lines.

Clear bras are great. I've had them installed on two previous vehicles but not the 150 (figured it's just a truck...). One thing to note, for a clean install (no bubbles) your going to need to begin with a clean surface free of chips. Best to be done on a brand new vehicle IMO.

This is why I have been leery of doing it for the past few years. Does anybody have any long term experience with these?

Its a good idea, and I may still do it someday, because the different look of the wrap coming off is no worse than the look of a screwed up bumper that is pitted and rusty... I would rather have the appearance of a freshly painted bumper that contrasts with the paint wear and tear.

Does anybody know of a more temporary solution? I think it would be pretty cool to have a cheaper, disposable version that you do every month...then, when you go on the HWY, you could apply it, and take it off when you are done...Sorta like that white crap they use for the fronts of new cars being delivered to the lot. (Anybody know where to get that, and what it is???)

Also, I have seen a few cars that have the entire body covered in the permenant stuff. They say it makes it VERY easy to clean, a lot more durable, and all it takes is a wash to have that freshly waxed (with a syn) appearance. (The corvettes at Texas Motor Speedway for the Corvette Driving experience are done like this...)

I dunno. We will see.
Thanks for any input.
