First Detailing Adventure....(56K Warning)

I just finished up with my first full detail job on my 07 FX2. All I have to say is, after this, I am definetly making a visit over to ADS and ordering a PC. Never again will I do this by hand. Here is the basics on what I had a chance to do with it. I don't think it turned out half bad.

1. Blasted road grime off at local pay 'n spray.
2. Washed with Meg's gold class car shampoo.
3. Megs Smooth Surface clay kit.
4. Megs Medallion Paint Cleaner
5. Megs Deep Crystal Pure Polish
6. Megs NXT Tech Wax
7. (would have been a pure carunuba....never made it this far)

Here's how it turned out.....

Hey look, I can see myself.

Since I don't have a garage, here's the neighbor's house instead.

Continued...

And the inside...

And for all you wheel well fanatics out there......

(I had to drive to get the digi camera, so there's a lil road splatter in there...)

Please give me yall's opinions....I'm always up for suggestions on what to do or how to do it better.

Looks great-- but I can tell you that RP is going to have a cow over the pic sizes...

You may want to resize them... (HINT)

But, yeah, ADS is the way to go, and make sure you tell Rick that the folks over at F150online sent you. Have fun now that you have the bug!!!

Truck looks great. HOw much total time did you spend doing everything? The PC will make a huge difference in your time and effort. I broke mine out for the first time this weekend and did my truck.

That was my thread where I posted a pic of my wheel well for all those wheel well *****. I think though that I'm actually becoming one myself because I've caught myself trying to scope out everyone's wheel wells when they post up their pics of their detail jobs.

I'm rubbing off on several here apparently. Wells are just about my biggest pet peeve from a detailing standpoint.

They are sooooo simple to do yet so frequently over looked.

So true and they really make a difference when they're done vs not done. I will say though that before I started reading these threads I had never done my wheel wells on any other vehicles I owned. So yes you are rubbing off on people here.

I started the process on saturday at 8:30 and quit about 6:30 at night. Add that 10 hrs with the 2 1/2 on friday night for washing it and i'm comin in at about 12 1/2 hours total for this job.

That's good to hear because I probably spent about that much time doing mine. Even though I had the PC I spent as much time, but that was because of the 2 coats of #80, coat of #9, #21, #26 and a final application of #34. The big difference though was in my shoulders, I didn't feel it like I did when I detailed the truck by hand.

Ya me too. It's so much easier to keep them perfect and looking brand spankin new if you keep up with them every wash.

I just love it when you guys turn those dark trucks into shining pieces of jewelry on wheels. And then we get to see what you look like - sort of - everybody seems to have a camera on their nose. Since my truck is white should I go trade it in on a black one so I can get in on the fun?

To me there is nothing better looking on the road then a freshly detailed black truck. Of course they require alot more upkeep to keep them looking good, but when they're done they look awesome.
