Caring for Machined Wheels
Caring for Machined Wheels
My new wheels are a machined finish (MB Motoring Predators). What is the clear coating that they put over the machined finish and is it best just to put wax on them to protect them over the winter months or is something else better?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Straight up wax is a terrible choice unless you want to be doing it 4x a week. Regular paint wax will melt right off the rims becaus of the heat. I suggest cleaning them with P21S Wheel Cleaner, then protecting them with Poorboys Wheel Sealant, or DP Wheel Glaze. This only needs to be applied once or twice a month. Then wash your rims with regular car soap. Only use the P21S when the car soap isnt enough.

Well you didnt say specify "sealant", you said wax. Either way, Id still go with a protective product dedicated for wheels.

-- I am (strangely) Way too cheap to buy a dedicated Wheel wax, in sipte of the fact that I have a dedicated everything else... Personal preference? Also, Having dustless brake pads makes a WORLD of difference, so even w/o wax, I have no problem with dust buildup. (Not to mention they're chrome rims, and as we all know, chrome rims shrug off dirt and dust better than painted ones...)
