Pinstripe Question

I am thinking about taking off the pinstripe on my truck. I have heard that I should use a heat gun or hair dryer to help get it off. I have also heard that it can leave a ghost stripe where the paint around where the strip was will be faded more than the paint under the stripe. I was wondering if this ghost stripe effect would still happen on my 05 or if it was mainly an issue for older trucks that have had more time in the sun? How bad would the difference be? thanks

p.s. my truck is metallic blue or whatever that blue color is

I sure ain't one of the resident experts, but I can't imagine your paint would have faded, its only a couple years old.

Pending that you've taken good care of your paint up until this point and haven't really used any harsh cleaners (soaps, tunnel car wash chemicals, etc) to wash with on a continual basis over the past two years, you should be good to go.

That said, this is still a 'do it at your own risk' type of modification.
