Probably Dumb Wax Question?

This is probably a dumb question, but I guess I'm just dumb enough to ask it....

I clayed my 2004 F-150 last weekend, and put a coat of Meguire's NXT wax on afterwards.

This week, we had a bunch of rain and dirty roads all week, and, obvlously, I washed the truck again today.

I noticed while washing the truck there were several small spots of what looked like dry wax haze on it. After drying the truck, I buffed those spots out.

My question....am I doing something wrong when I wax? Why weren't those spots visible until I washed the truck? (And they weren't visible when I waxed it...I looked it over very carefully before finishing).

I thought maybe one of you pros knows the answer to this....

Thanks!

Hard call, sight unseen...

My hunch is that the product never really set up correctly on the paint. This isn't necessarily an uncommon thing...

Did you find that, when removing the NXT, it seemed a bit smeary? Or, when removing, were you in a humid atmosphere?

It's not a bad thing but more of an annoyance... NXT can be a bit finicky at time in certain environments. While it's a pretty solid consumer-line product, there are products that cost three-times as much that will do exactly the same thing under the right environmental situations.

Rockpick,

It's always humid here in Tulsa, so I guess that's the problem. I didn't notice the NXT being smeary when I removed it.

Thanks,

Mike

Humidity will affect just about any product that you can use... just keep that in mind when selecting days to detail if at all possible..

Rockpick,

I'll keep the humidity in mind the next time I wax. Unfortunately, with our weather here, that will probably have to be this fall.

In the meantime, I'll try to use the Quik Detailer once or twice a month to keep the shine up until the next waxing.

Thanks again for the advice!
