Question Any suggestions for storing my truck

I am going out of the country for about 4 months and will not be driving my truck during that time. I have found some websites with storage tips, but they seem a little extreme for the amount of time I need to store my truck. I was just seeing if yall had any suggestions!

4 months? Just park it in a garage and/or get a good cover. Detail it before you store it. Park it with a full tank of gas and change the oil before storage or when you get back.

Four months is not long enough to worry about. I'd fill her up (you might want to add some Sta-Bil just to be on the safe side), check the air pressure on the tires, and let it sit.

If you're storing it outside, I'd throw a good coat of wax on it and maybe put a cover on it or at least one of those sun shades to keep down the sun-related wear-and-tear on the interior.

fuel stabilizer in gas wouldn't hurt and pull the neg battery cable to save battery and prevent the truck from walking away without you.

Years ago, I use to travel out of the country for months at a time and I did that for over 10 years. I had over 2 dozen vehicles, some of which I kept in long term storage, but storage was always an issue. Definitely use a fuel stabilizer as previously mentioned. If you don't have a battery maintenance system, then disconnect your battery if you don't mind the effects from it. I kept/keep many of my vehicles plugged into a battery maintenance float chargers to prevent discharge and Lead Plate Sulphation, which is what will kill your battery. You can buy a decent charger / maintainer for under $50 off the internet or from local stores such as WalMart. One of the nicer inexpensive WalMart charger / maintainers to check out is the Schumacher SC-1200A fully automatic speed charger. Sear's also sells a similar charger / maintainer. I probably have a half dozen of the VDC systems that I use in addition to a custom float charging station I use for the vehicles that I keep in long term storage, but I also have a couple of the Schumacher SC-1200A's that I've been using for years with good results on certain vehicles.

Four months won't be a problem if you're using a fuel stabilizer and maintaining the battery, but if you're storing vehicles for years at a time, then you'll run into all kinds of issues that need attention (battery, fluids, tires, seals, etc).

As far as changing the oil, I would do so before storing. That way its stored with fresh oil instead of the dirty oil thats been in there for how long. I put my Mustang away during our fantastic northeastern winters and change it right befor eI store it and give 'er a good coat of wax and plug a batter tender into it. When I start it in the spring, I pull the coil wire to crnak it over until the oil pressure is built up, re-install the wire and she fires right up.
