Tiny bubbles WTF?
Tiny bubbles WTF?
Looked at a '72 Vette yesterday it had tiny bubbles throughout the blue metallic after market paint job.
I can't remember what causes this, maybe an adhesion issue due contaminates on surface when they shot it?
(I might have bought it anyway and had it stripped and painted but the factory color was puke Green!)

Solvent pop - Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes.
Enjoy the read.... it's a pretty good write-up on how/why it occurs.

Yeah that covers it. The guy told me it was caused by a car cover.
Thanks!
i would also without seeing the vehicle but hearing what it is...it could be caused by vehcile prep. vettes being fiberglass they are usually stripped with chemicals and not mechanically stripped (that being bead blasted with plastic or walnut shells). if it is allowed to sit too long it can seap into the glass and later react once the paint is layed over it. knowing that it is a glass car and no photos i would think that is the cause. if you see cars from the 50-60 some have very large lead joined pannels. over time they will cause little bubbles from the reaction/break down of the old lead and metal. 67-69 gm f body cars camaro/firebirds are notorius for this....it usually occurs between the rear quarter window and back glass (this is the factory seem of the roof and rear quarter pannel). alot of times even after a new paint a couple of years later if it was not done right the little pin dots will pop back up. i have had a 69 and still have a 67...both had it and it was removed and new lead was put in... but all in all it is a prob a problem in the paint and not top surface of paint. i would guess that the bare body is contaminated and would take a strip down and alot of work to get all crap out of the glass before a respray to make it right.
You bet. You won't see that very often as most shops are very aware of what causes it and what NOT to do to keep it from happening. I've seen it maybe a couple of times... that's all.
I would've blown a gasket if I saw it in my freshly painted vehicle!
