Questions on using paste wax with a PC

Should pastes not be used on a PC?

If it's ok to use them, then what methods work best for applying? Any tricks?

I've tried scooping straight onto the pad and also applying a couple one foot long passes about 8 inches apart then using the pc to even them out.

Absolutely -- you can use pastes on a PC.

The trick is getting it from the tin to the pad... to accomplish this, I typically use an applicator and work it from the tin and on to the pad as evenly as I can.

Once on the paint, I'll work it around in a small area to try to further distribute the wax across the pad. From there, I'll work on spreading everything that I've applied to that one small point across a larger area while keeping in mind that thinner is better.

I saw a post on MOL about a guy using the back of a spoon to pick up some wax and transfer it to the pad and smear it around. I haven't tried it myself but it looked like it worked pretty well from the pics he took demonstrating it. Might be worth a try, seemed quick, easy, and clean.

Thanks guys. I've got to add a 2nd NXT today so I may try an applicator, clean plastic putty knife or plastic utensil.

It's a dual-action polisher. PC stands for Porter Cable -- the manufacturer.

You'll hear this machine referred to as either the DA or PC...
