it looks to me like the lub they use to mount the wheels and tires, but that usually comes right off, but will smear, have you tried windex?

Did they look like that before you mounted them on the truck? It looks like water stains or possibly something you sprayed on your tires that didn't come off the wheel. Not sure what you have tried so far, but I use Turtle wax chrome polish and rust remover on my wheels and it does a great job at cleaning and shining them up.

They didn't look like that before i washed them!! I used this Eagle One tire and wheel cleaner, and that is what seems to have made the smears. But it didnt smear when i had factory wheels on. It is pissing me off!!

The thing about it is it is only on the outer ring and not on the rim itself!!! Weird!!!

was the chemical applied to a hot rim...just drove and still warm to the touch...or were the rims dry when you sprayed them....or was the chemical allowed to dry on the rim...if so it could stain the rim...

if they are polished alum rims. just repolish them...i have seen this before with people asking for help..if its stains on a clear coated alum rims....not much you can do...

make sure rims are wet and cool when using any chem...it looks like this is why chems should not be applied to a dry rim or to a warm rim. i am not sure but would guess that is what happened here.

I have the polished aluminum wheels. What I use and like very well is the Meguiars "Hot Rims" aluminum polish. I can't tell if your rims are polished aluminum but they sure do look very similar to mine. I purchased my wheels and nerf bars at a junkyard if that is any indication of how well the Hot Rims polish works.

It's either hard water or you used some kind of wheel cleaner... Did you use a wheel cleaner?

no wonder things have to be stated so many times on this site...be nice if people read entire thread before they replied to it

i would guess the rim is clear coated and lip is polished...you could try and repolish just the lip...but if it is clear coated and stained, its alot of work. you would have the clear bead blasted off then hand polish it to match the rim...or you could and have the bead lockers stripped then anodized to match the truck say red or black and that would get rid of it.

LOL... wow. Nevermind. I'm done trying to 'help'.

What I *was* going to say is that it looked like acid pitting to a certain degree. Some wheel cleaners have very low pH and thus, it attacks certain kinds of metals (magnesium wheels are the worst!). What it looked like to me was that someone had used a wheel cleaner that attacked one of the metal components within the metal 'mix' and that it wasn't completely rinsed off. It looks as though some may have settled in around the bolts on the ring and then slowly ran off -- attacking the metal along the way.

But, like I said, I'm done trying to help on this one...
