Wax Question --Update with pics

Hey not really a truck question but I pull the camper with my truck!! I have a pop up camper with a rough or grained finish on the fiberglass top and sides. What do you guys recommend for a wax that won't build up in the low areas of the grain but will give good protection against the dirt and black stuff that always seems to be on campers? Thanks for any help!

Try doing a search on http://www.popupportal.com . They may know. Good luck. Ever have trouble with mice eating your canvas during the winter? It sucks.

Sorry, just checked and they don't have a search tool. But they do have a forum just for roof repair and care. Maybe it will help.

How bout this stuff. I can't see it building up in the crevices.

I would concur. Also, it does dry with a haze so, that might not be the best of options from a 'removal' standpoint. Frankly, I've regarded NXT Spray right up there with a square wheel and purple dancing/singing dinosaur.

That said, I'm not sure what else to really recommend. There are some 'spray on and walk away' types of products out there but, they really don't offer much luster and their protection is lax at best from my personal experience.

One potential option may be FK1's Poly Slick 425. It's a spray sealant -- spray on, wipe off -- but, it really doesn't offer a boatload of protection. It does shine like wildfire though.

I would concur with the first response to your question... I'd give a couple of the product specific message board communities a whirl and ask them what they're using on their textured metal. Sorry I can't offer any more specific help...

Or you could simply go to your local CarQuest auto parts store and pick up a bottle of Duragloss Aquawax which is now on sale for $4.99 / bottle. You simply spray it on and wipe it off. The product itself is clear and it dries clear, provides gloss, slickness, protection from harmful UV's and it leaves absolutely nothing behind in terms of residue on trim pieces or textured surfaces, etc. It works well by itself or over synthetic sealants or over your favorite nuba. It also works very well on wheels. It's one of those hidden gem products that just can't be beat for its price. CarQuest.com has a store locator on their web site if you want to find stores local to you. Call them first because not all stores stock this product, but they all can get it or have it transferred to your local store at no extra cost to you. I believe the $4.99 sale pricing is only good through April. They can also get this product by the gallon. And the Duragloss car wash soap is among the best I've ever used in addition to their easy to use paint sealant 'Total Performance Polish' that offers 6+ months of protection.

Qadsan, you are the man for best bang for the buck products.

I'm really enjoying the Adams/Edge 2000 pads. The 4" pads are indeed much better to use in terms of speed and ease of use. Great suggestions, thanks again.

Cleaned off a bunch of green, black and other colored stuff, then waxed with Duragloss Aquawax. Worked really good, nice shine. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi qad... not trying to derail this one but...

Have you tried the So1o system? I might have already asked you that.

I bought the 'starter kit' from Rick and, at face value, I *really* like the wool pads. Just thought I'd see what you thought about them... or if you had tried them.
