Mothers Powerball

So last week I posted a thread about how to clean my aluminum truck box. Well to polish it, I went out and got Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish (http://www.autogeek.net/motmagalpol.html). Instead of having to polish this by hand, you guys think Mothers Powerball Polishing Tool (http://www.autogeek.net/mo5140.html) would work well with the polish??? I figure any way to cut down on the cleaning and detailing of a truck is always nice. So, any suggestions?

I bought one just to use on my tool box...problem I ran into is my cordless drill kept needing a recharge (I don't have a corded drill)...so I just ended up using my PC with the red pad and Maguires metal polish...worked pretty well. Topped off w/Poor Boys wheel sealant and then a coat of wax..

Little tip: It's much easier to take the tool box off the truck and do it on saw horses..

BTW, the PowerBall seemed to work pretty well, just couldn't keep it turning with the drill motor I have..

We have been using the Powerball for quite a while on our fire engines (lots of diamond plate!) and it has worked really well, we didn't want to wear out an expensive drill, so we bought an $11 corded drill from Harbor Freight. The difference it makes is incredible, especially for the price. Try it out, I think you'll be impressed.

Mothers Power Ball is great but the Flitz Ball seems to hold up a little better on the rough metal. It's Flitz when it's a little more of an industrial approach.

It's a good concept but, either way (Flitz or Powerball), make certain that the wheel is free and clear of any grit/sand/other grime (ie: use it after a wash).

The reason behind this is to keep from continously rotating crud around on your wheel. The foam will offer a decent material for application but, much like a foam sponge/mitt, the foam provides little to no area for any grit/grime/etc to go if the foam picks it up.

In short, it may work okay but, make CERTAIN that the wheel is 100% clean so that you don't cause problems.
