Gold Class waffle weave vs microfibers

Just gave the truck a quick wash last night so I could get some 80, NXT, NXT, and 26 on the new lid. I picked up one of these Gold Class waffle weave drying towels locally and I'm completely not impressed by it. Maybe I'm not using it correctly or have the wrong expectation. I used it with the idea it would completely dry the half of the truck I was working on. It basically just gathered up some of the water and pushed the rest off. I had to then follow up behind it with a microfiber towel which I've used in the past for the entire drying process. I've had much better luck drying with mf towels and me thinks that'll be what I use for now on, just need to grab a few larger sizes.

did you wash it prior to using it the first time ?

if so, how ?

I have found that the Meg's water magnets need to be washed a couple of times before they start working well..

plus, it is always a good idea to wash your microfibers and other towels prior to their first use, as they can pick up all sorts of contamination during the manufacturing and shipping process.

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't bother washing it before use. I usually do wash all my towels before hand. I know I was risking it, but got caught in a jam of one nice day before the cold air made a return. Also figured I'd be doing a full onslaught of clay, polishes, waxes, etc soon so any blems would hopefully be corrected fairly soon. I'll try washing it a few times before giving up on it.

What drying technique, blot or wipe? Also, before you did the drying, did you just finish rinsing or did you remove your spray nozzle and let the water flow freely from the hose to "sheet" off any large amounts? for a while I didn't do that and would blow through about 2 towels to get completely dry. changed the process and can safely make it with one.

the washing does help. I put in a small amount of detergent and a table spoon of white vinegar with the washer set on Warm/Cold. I have about 4 of those towels and haven't had a really bad experience yet. Hope they work out for you.
