I wouldn't 'use' it on the paint... it definitely has some abrasive qualities being that calcium carbonate (limestone) and fledspars (another 'earthen' material) are primary ingredients. Additionally, I will go out on a limb here and say that the mix may be somewhat caustic (high pH) which can also etch paint (hence, hard water etching).

On glass -- I'd say you're golden. I definitely wouldn't let it get on *my* paint.

Windex and a razor blade...gets ANYTHING off glass. I use it all the time when I get something on my windshield. Once you get good at it, you can clean your entire windshield (with 50 bugs on it from a weekend trip) in about 2 minutes.

Picked this up off of Auto Geek Zaairman.

Best way to get glass to look new is a cerium oxide polish for glass..it will give glass the new car look....use with a PC and a 4inch pad...glass turns into a diamond..removes scratches, smooths out pits, so less noticeable... use a 4" green or orange pad to polish glass...google cerium glass polish ...look at them all on the first and second page...prices vary...mine was $29.00.

Well, I'm not sure what gauge we used... but when I had my first job at age 17~ at a Ford dealer we used steel wool ALL the time to clean glass and REAL chrome. Never once saw a single scratch as a result. Steel wool worked GREAT for us...especially getting the glue overspray/runoff off of the windows from the factory.

Right... you can use the steel wool to clean them but, I really don't think that it's going to REMOVE scratches from his glass... it probably won't introduce any but I don't think that it's really going to remove them either... unless I'm wrong -- am I? (I honestly don't use the stuff very often).

vinegar/window cleaner/rubbing alcohol all mixed together will take water spots off. Vinegar itself will take it off.

I have a SeaDoo that is yellow and black, had a big problem with water spots. Bought a product called "Ducky" at the boat store. It is advertised as a water spot remover. Took them right off. Might work on your windshields too.

I painted Kenworth trucks for more than 8 years. When they went to touchup paint shop, we used 00 steel wool to clean all the over spray off the windows. Worked great and left no scratches.

I use a product called Bar Keeper. It makes it look new. The only place I know to get it, and laugh if you want Beth Bath and Beyond.
