it is time to remove it when it passes the Swipe Test :

per Meg's Online The swipe test is where you take your clean finger, and swipe it briskly across the finish with the wax on it. If the paint is clear, without residue where your finger made the swipe, the wax is ready to wipe-off. If the area you have swiped is smudgy, or streaky, or there is noticeable wax in the swipe area, then the wax has not set-up long enough and you should allow more time for the wax to set-up before your remove it.

For NXT .. that will usually be somewhere between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on conditions like temp and humidity. # 26 will usually be ready a little quicker than that ..

If you find it taking more time to pass the swipe test, then you may be applying the product too heavy, or thick.

and after that how long between coats...?
I will usually do both coats of my synthetic back to back.. (#20, #21 or NXT) since the purpose of the two coats is to ensure complete coverage, not "layering"

I will then follow up with a coat of #26, 18 to 24 hours later.
