Back to Black

I dont know if i got a bad bottle or whatever, but I hate that stuff. My plastics looked good for a couple days now theyre grey. Its like the back to black just dried up on the plastics because the grey comes off with a powdery feel to it, similar to dried out wax. What are you guys using on your plastics?

On my plastic I use either Meguiar's #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner or 303 Aerospace Protectant

I haven't had a problem with the back to black. I applied the first time, and reapplied another layer after it set in. I'm going to try the megs when I run out of this to see the difference.

I have warned people before about Back to Black. The stuff is white. It looks great for about a week, then it dries out and turns every place you have a grain on the platic white. I used it once, it really messed up my bed rails. It may be good on smooth surfaces but not textured. I have a near full bottle someone can have.

I'm not a fan of that stuff either, I used it on my old Explorers bumpers and trim a couple times, then I got tired of scrubbing out the white left over and I never mess with the trim, I just wash it dry it and leave it.

It's all bad.I use several of Mothers products and like them but Back To Black is one product I'll never use again.

I had the same problem on the bed rails, kind of a white residue appeared after a while.

I have been using mothers back to black for about 2 month's now with no problems. You just have to shake the heck out of the bottle before you put it on !!

I shook it. Don't see how shaking it would keep it from drying out white in the textured surface.

It does that on purpose, so you will use more product. Like Armorall, looks good for a day, then looks worse than before you applied it. It's an old trick.

I used it, and when it rained the next day, the crap ran down my paint, even though I had applied it conservatively. That did it for me..........

Very common complaint with that particular product.

Unfortunately, once the color is oxidized or has been faded out of plastic, it's nearly impossible to reimpregnate/recolor it.

The best bet -- replace the part.

Vinylex or 303 is the only way to go,have been very happy with the results.
