Today's detail on my F150

I just wanted to thank all the guys for the great advice I have received from this site. Today was the first time I did a full detail on the outside of my truck. Here is what I used.

Washed with Megs Deep Crystal Car Wash
Clayed with Megs Quick Clay system
Used ScratchX on a few spots
Waxed with Megs Cleaner wax
Waxed with Megs NXT wax

I've had my truck for 4 months and I have washed it twice and waxed it once. I could not believe how much junk the clay pulled of the paint. I am not sure how to post a pic in the message but I have set up a gallery with a few shots of my truck. The lighting was not the best but you can see how good it turned out.

Please use care when using a cleaner/wax...because every time you use it...a bit of your clearcoat disappears.

Once a year with cleaner/wax is enough.

Thanks for the advice. This was the first time I used it and I will make sure to use it sparingly.

Nice shine indeed.

Love a CLEAN, black truck. Lots of work to keep it shiny, but worth it in the end.

Nice job.

Most 'cleaner waxes' out there offer VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY little 'cleaning' power. They're actually filled more with 'fillers' to conceal swirls and such. This is true for nearly every CONSUMER-based product on the market.

In short, using a cleaner wax EVERY TIME that you wax is just about as safe as it comes pending you're using it correctly with correct application and removal and per the directions. Also pending that you're not waxing weekly I suppose.

6 times per year? Pfft, no problem.

While it will, indeed, remove a VERY small amount of clear, you're safe.

It'd be very different if you were using a high-abrasive compound or even a mild polish to remove serious problems in the clear. A cleaner wax, generally speaking, is about as safe as they come.
