new paint ???
How much do you guys think it should cost to have a few dings taken out and have the whole truck painted a midnight blue with some pearl or silver flake added. All help is greatly appreciated.
For a good paint job you're going to drop some money. I'm thinking you'll probably be in for a around $5,000 if not more. Pearl and Flake paint is tough to spray and requires more coats.
Look to spend some dinero... probably in the realm of $3k to $8k depending on paint, painter, and shop.
Then again, there's always the Ambassador Special at Macco.... you may be better off with a rattle-can of paint though.

I forgot to mention, if you live in the wondeful state of california expect to:
a) Pay a lot more
b) Have inferior products used on your truck. (thanks to air regulations)
Drive to AZ and get the paint yourself. It will be the better stuff.

Body work, oh man what an issue!!!!!!!!! I've been in deep trying to paint my 64 Galaxie for 5 years+ and still it's in primer. Only now is it starting to finalize. I find it not only costs twice as much, but takes 10 times as long to do. I have wasted thousands on having to redo stuff. Sorry brother, not a happy topic.
But if everything goes good, 5000 is not out of the question to start and it may be more. Be the guy who has a happy ending, and I hope your's turns out sweet.

Another thing you might want to consider is what an "acceptable" paint job entails. Since you're talking about changing color, things get interesting. If you take a close look, your truck has paint in the door jams, under the hood, in the rear fender wells, and I could go on and on. If you want to change colors - and do it right - you have to paint all of those areas too. Oh yea, and they're a bear to do right. A good paint job depends more on the pre-paint preparation than anything else. And doing that stuff right costs a bloody fortune - but it's worth it in the long run.
So you could go to Maaco and get the color changed for a fairly low price. When you go to sell your truck though, you're in for a (very) rude awakening. Hope that helps.
